Learning happens everywhere at Fybough National School. Pupils enjoy hands-on, real-life learning experiences that promote curiosity, creatively and independence. Cooking, baking and seasonal gardening are part of regular routines at Fybough NS. All pupils are offered opportunities to participate in community challenges such as Credit Union Art Competition, Eason's Spelling Bee, The Credit Union Quiz. Pupils from 3rd to 6th Classes participate in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP) biannually.
Physical activity and wellbeing are central to daily life at Fybough National School. Pupils are encouraged to stay active, build teamwork skills and enjoy sport and phyical activitiy in a positive and inclusive environment. We are actively involved in the Active Schools Programme, GAA coaching, yearly swimming lessons, soccer and Gaelic football competitions.
We place a strong emphasis on pupil wellbeing and mental health. Our initiavives support positive relationships, resilaince, grit and a sense of belonging for every child with a strong emphaises on pupil voice and choice aross what we do. Pupil lead commitees are central to this, supported by our staff to lead and make school based decisions. We participate in the Amber Flag Wellbeing Initiave, Charity Fundraisers, Wellbeing Week, Anti-Bullying Week and pupil lead wellbeing intitiavees and fun days.
Our pupils are encouraged to take pride in the Irish language, care our natural environment and develop a strong sense of social responsibility through participation in the Green Schools Programme, Heritage in Schools Programmes and Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations each year.
Nestled between the Sliabh Mish Mountains to the north and Castlemaine Harbour and The McGillycuddy Reeks to the south, Fybough is located in the heart of Mid-Kerry along the main Castlemaine to Inch road. Before and After School Care services are provided to the school by Nai Ionad na Cille Ltd.
